A Donor Support Team

However if you pick a manageable number e.g. 8-10 who are, for example, on e-mail you may find that this does help you come up with ideas and have 'donor perspective' on what you are sending out - something that is almost impossible to do when you have very little time and have written and organised most of the project.

There are downsides to this, of course. People who get to give their opinion, especially volunteers, do not necessarily appreciate not having their ideas utilised. This means it is important to pick the right people. This can be an ongoing process, rather than trying to develop this team straight away. Do make sure that as a team you are all working together on this so that there are not mixed messages being transmitted to this team of donors. Be clear about what you want to use this group for.

Don't forget to thank them each year for their support.

N.B. Do not do this unless you think it is a useful tool for your team or yourself and that you can support this team properly.  Otherwise you will create allienation.
