Give As You Earn -
Frequently asked questions

Complied by Jane Banks, Charities Aid Foundation

Q:

We are working with a company as their Charity of the Year and we want to encourage staff to support us as well. How could Give As You Earn help?

A:

A face-to-face Give As You Earn Campaign within the company enhances all other fundraising activities throughout the year. It gives individuals the opportunity to receive their regular monthly donations, by using a personal charity account to support fundraising events, or by contributing into a staff charity fund to support you collectively.

Q:

How do I know if a company has a Give As You Earn Scheme in place?

A:

You can request from the Charities Aid Foundation a list of those employers contracted to provide Give As You Earn to their employees. If you are considering a regional campaign you could even request a list produced to a specific postcode.

Q:

I am working with a company, which is not contracted to Give As You Earn but would like to involve their employees. How can CAF help?

A:

CAF have a New Client Adviser who can contract an employer on your behalf. Contact Julia Griffin on e-mail: jgriffin@caf.charitynet.org or 020 7400 2300

Q:

How long does it take between a donor signing up through Give As You Earn and the charity receiving the first gift?

A:

On average the time taken is approximately one to six months. The first deduction is taken from the salary at the end of the month and then passed on to us to ensure that the information is correct. Once the initial donation has been processed, it will appear monthly.

Q:

We've had money come through on our bank statement under Give As You Earn but we can't identify the donors. Is there any way we can find out who they are?

A:

CAF can provide you with a monthly statement of those donors who are giving to you through Give As You Earn. This can be obtained on an annual subscription basis. For more details on this and the employer's list please contact our Client Liaison team at Kings Hill 01732 520 019
