Ideas for corporate fundraising events
-
Auction. Be careful with auctions, as they can be very boring. Try
silent auctions or auctioning well-targeted prizes for that specific market.
- Guess the baby. In-house competition to guess whom the baby is out
of the management. This can have a small entry fee and perhaps a prize (donated
preferably from the company or their suppliers). If the company has a social
club they may also be able to help.
- Bingo evening. Use this as part of an evening do.
-
Busking. Perhaps there are musicians within the company that would
create a band and busk for a week somewhere in the company to promote either
an event you are going to run or simply for small donations. Again this
is high profile for the charity.
- Sports events. Any event that can create competition between departments
or sponsorship possibilities. For example, some companies promote membership
to a sports club and you may be able to negotiate something there. After all
it is also a great opportunity to raise the profile of the sports club.
- Selling items. The company may allow you to sell items in-house or
if you can create a special t-shirt (perhaps signed by someone famous and
exclusive to that particular company). Try to find a way to take orders first
before putting in large orders. Make sure the price reflects the quality.
Perhaps make the t-shirt a way to enter a competition at a later date.
- Carol concerts. Some companies will organise carol concerts. If you
have celebrity participation within your organisation this is an ideal time
to ask the celebrity to do a reading. The collection money could be yours!
Also if you run your own concert this offers an opportunity to invite more
people, although if you have not developed a specific rapport with that company,
it is unlikely people will come unless it is either in a special place or
has a particular celebrity they would like to bring along. Don't forget children
at carol concerts as this often draws people in (this could either be in terms
of a children's choir, or inviting parents and children to the concert. This
can prove popular as the mother brings the child in and joins the father after
work to go to a carol concert).
- Christmas cards. Sold within the company. Also if you can persuade
the company to take on your own Christmas card as their Christmas card, this
will boost sales. There are a couple of well organised Xmas card companies
who provide brochures that can be sent out to your own list (simple and easy
to use). See the Resources Centre.
-
Raffle. Not recommend more than once a year. Don't choose Christmas
for this, remember Easter, Valentines, the four seasons, etc.
- Second hand books. Selecting a time of year when people bring the
old books in and they are sold during lunch hour with proceeds to the charity.
- Swear box. Always good for the office.
- Wine tasting night. Bringing in sponsors for this event, charging
a small fee and taking a percentage of anything sold. This can be done for
any other ideas you may have.
